Secondary School
The Aspen Heights Secondary School (Key Stage 3) students follow the English National Curriculum from EYFS (Age 3-4 Years) up till Key Stage 4 (Age 14-16 years), and then switch to the IB Diploma Programme for Key Stage 5 (Age 16-18 Years). First group of IB Diploma Programme for Year 12 opened in September 2023.
The ethos and high levels of pastoral care established in the primary school follow through to the secondary school, with young people’s ability to develop resilience, approach challenges positively, and work collaboratively for the good of the whole community being central to their learning.
Our secondary school teaching provides challenge whilst enabling our students to see meaningful links in their learning. Children are segregated for learning in the Secondary Building, with small classes offering a high level of support and pastoral care.
We teach the English National Curriculum, together with the Ministry of Education curricular requirements up until Year 11, and themes include teaching in the following subjects.
- Core Subjects: English, Maths, Science, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social and Civics, Computing, Citizenship, and Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE)
- Foundation Subjects: History, Geography, Physical Education (including Swimming), Computing, French, Art & Design, Design Technology, and Music
Following a broad provision in Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 students will have the option to select options for further study leading to GCSE/ IGCSE examinations.
