Aspen Heights: Back to School

This week Aspen Heights British School celebrated 5 amazing years! We opened the doors to our incredible, ambitious community school in 2017 with only 50 students, and now look back in amazement and pride. Our halls are full of families, staff and students who are all an integral part of our everyday learning.

To say thank you and to celebrate with our wonderful community, we arranged a fun birthday event for everybody. Celebrations included bingo, music, games, and playdough fun! Families were busy taking pictures at the photo booth, children made birthday posters and crafts, and teachers sang songs to mark this happy occasion.

Our Principal Mrs Emma Shanahan, who has been a part of the school since day one, also spoke at the event. Talking about her journey she said “There is a saying ‘It takes a village to raise a child’– We could not have developed into the empathetic, ambitious and high achieving learning community we have become, without the support of our incredible community.”

Paying homage to the incredible teachers and founding members, she added: “We are delighted and proud that staff colleagues who work at Aspen, stay with us and grow with us! This is a key part of our success. This week I want to say a special thank you to the 12 colleagues who have been with us on this incredible journey towards excellence, since day one! Thank you to Mrs Basma, Mrs Sonia, Miss B-C, Mr Aquilas, Ms Bernadette, Mrs Girlie, Mr Mohamed, Mr. Qusai, Ms Quick, Mrs Sandy, Mrs Stevens, and Mr Glenn! “.

The school recognised the energy, resilience and loyalty of our founding colleagues and awarded them all with a voucher for a relaxing 5* hotel stay. We hope they enjoy it!

Student and staff wellbeing is central to our school’s ethos, and we continue to strive for compassion and excellence in everything we do. We hope to continue learning and celebrating with you for years to come. Happy Birthday Aspen Community!
